Vermicelli Upma (or) semiya Upma

Ingredients :

Vermicelli (semiya) - 1 cup.

Water - 1 1/2 cup.

Mustad seeds (avalu) - 1/2 tbsp.

Cumin seeds (jeelakarra)(jeera) - 1/2 tbsp.

Hing - 1/4 tbsp.

Chana dal(senaga bedalu) - 1 tbsp.

Black Gram (urad dal)(minnapappu) - 1 tbsp.

Pea nuts (verusenaga pappu) - 2 tbsps.

cashew nuts (jeedipappu) - 2 tbsps.

Curry leaves (karivepaku) - 5.

Chopped ginger (allam) - 1/2 tbsp.

Crushed garlic(velluli) - 3.

Chopped Green chilli - 1 tbsp.

Chopped Onions - 1/2 cup.

Grated carrot - 4 tbsps.

Green peas (pachi batani) - 3 tbsps.

Chopped tomato - 2 tbsp.

Salt - to taste.

Oil or ghee - 4 tbsps.

Coriander leaves (kothimeera) - For garnish.

Process :

  • Heat 1 tbsp ghee ina pan fry vermicelli till it gets light brown color.
  • Keep it aside.
  • Heat 4 tbsps of oil in another pan add mustad seeds,cumin seeds,hing,chana dal,urad dal,peanuts,cashewnuts.fry them.
  • Now add ginger,garlic,green chilli,curry leaves,onions,carrot.
  • Cook well till onions turns to golden brown color.
  • Add tomato cook it till tomato fully mashed.
  • Now add green peas pour water add salt to it.cover it with lid let it boil.
  • Now add vermicelli keep mixing cover it with lid for 4-5 mins.
  • Turn off flame .finally garnish with coriander.
  • Vermicelli upma is ready to serve.
  • serve it with coconut chutney or peanut chutney.
