Atukula Upma (or) Rice Flakes Upma (or) Poha Upma

Ingredients :

Atukulu (poha)(rice flakes) - 1 cup.

mustad seeds (avalu) - 1 tbsp.

Cumin seeds (jeera) (jeelakarra) - 1 tbsp.

Hing - apinch.

Chana dal (senaga bedalu) - 1 tbsp.

Peanuts (verusenaga pappu) - 1 tbsp.

Cashew nuts (jeedipappu) - 1 tbsp.

Chopped ginger (allam) - 1 tbsp.

Curry leaves (karivepaku) - 5.

Chopped green chilli (pachimirchi)- 1 tbsp.

Chopped onions - 1/2 cup.

Salt - to taste.

Red chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp.

Turmaric - a pinch.

Garam masala - 1/2 tbsp.

Coriander leaves (kothimeera) - for garnish.

Oil - 4 tbsps. 

Process :

  • Soak atukulu in water for 3mins and strain the water keep it aside.
  • Now heat oil in pan add mustad seeds,cumin seeds,hing,chanadal,peanuts,cashew nuts.fry them.
  • Now add green chilli,ginger,Curry leaves,Onions,salt.
  • Cook till onions turns to golden brown color.
  • Add Soaked atukulu ,salt,red chilli powder,garam masala.
  • Mix it well.
  • Well cook for 5mins.finally add coriander leaves.off the flame.
  • atukula upma is ready.
